Matt Jones has penned poems and prose in Afghanistan, China, Nicaragua, France, Canada and on a warship. He was the winner of Arc Poetry Magazine’s Poem of the Year Reader’s Choice Award for his poem, “Wounded Village.” His story, “Drone,” was recently published in F(r)iction magazine. Today, Matt is writing books and enjoying the Parisian Bohemia.
Once I drove warships through fields of icebergs, and sent helicopters to rescue dying soldiers; it was always about the story. In this website, hard-won experience is bolstered by magic. Check out the blog section for thoughts on fitness, writing, leadership, masculinity, and other topics that seize me.
It’s possible to help others, build community, and achieve personal mastery.
Since retiring from the military I’ve grown my hair long, written, hosted, workshopped, taught, performed, and organized poetry festivals in Canada, Afghanistan, China, Nicaragua, London, and Paris. My novel, DRONES, is forthcoming from TouchPoint Press.
Now that Paris is home, I teach at the French War College, run a free monthly writing workshop, and organize a fitness club for exercise enthusiasts who meet in the woods and use the trees as barbells: the Log Club.
